Great Plains Recovery offers a Partial Hospitalization Program for people who need full-day clinical structure as a focused step in care. PHP often follows residential treatment as the intensity eases, and it holds the daily support that keeps early recovery steady. Recovery specialists are ready right now at (918) 731-3173.
PHP sits between live-in residential care and lighter outpatient treatment. Here is how the three compare, so you can see where you or your loved one fits today.
You stay on-site around the clock. Best when home isn't stable yet or withdrawal and mental health needs call for constant care.
The clinical intensity of inpatient care in a full daily structure, provided within our residential setting. Best as a focused step once round-the-clock care is more than you need.
Treatment that fits around work or school. Best as a later step, once a full day of programming is more than you need.
Not sure which one fits? A specialist can talk it through with you in a few minutes. Call (918) 731-3173.
PHP works well when you need full clinical structure but round-the-clock inpatient care is more than the situation calls for. Enrollment starts with a full physical and psychological evaluation, so the plan is built around your actual situation.
It tends to be a strong fit when you have:
If the medical picture is more serious or the situation calls for constant support, residential treatment may be the safer starting point. A specialist can help you sort it out.
PHP runs as daytime treatment on weekdays. Each participant is paired with a dedicated addiction counselor who oversees progress, coordinates care, and stays in touch with the family.
Group Therapy
Daily group sessions are the core of the program, where the real work and connection happen.
Individual Counseling
Regular one-on-one sessions with your counselor to track progress and work through what's underneath.
Psychiatric Support
Ongoing psychiatric assessment and medication management when the medical team decides it's appropriate.
Skill Building
Structured activities and meals that rebuild a steady daily rhythm you can carry home.
The structure holds through each day while our team keeps clinical support close, so every day builds a steadier footing.
Many people who reach PHP are managing a mental health condition alongside substance use, and we build that into care from the start rather than treating it as an add-on.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration reports that roughly 21.2 million adults live with a co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder.
You don't have to have it all figured out before you reach out. Specialists answer 24 hours a day, and there's no commitment required to ask questions.
In most cases, insurance covers a meaningful share of partial hospitalization. Great Plains accepts most major insurance plans, and the team can check your benefits for you before you commit to anything.
Under the federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, plans that cover behavioral health generally can't limit substance-use care more strictly than medical care. If there are gaps in coverage, the team will lay out your options clearly so there are no surprises.
Call or send the form. A specialist asks a few basic questions about the situation, the substances involved, and insurance.
A physical and psychological evaluation confirms whether PHP is the right level of care and shapes your treatment plan.
You begin daytime programming with a dedicated counselor, overseen by a physician board-certified in addiction medicine.
Start through the admissions page or the contact page, and see the full range on our treatment programs page.
Tell us a little about what's going on and a recovery specialist will reach out, usually the same day. There's no obligation, and everything you share is kept private.

PHP is a high level of care where you attend structured clinical programming during the day, including group therapy, individual counseling, and psychiatric support. At Great Plains, it's provided within our residential setting as a focused step down from round-the-clock inpatient care.
The main difference is time. PHP is a full day of programming on weekdays, while an intensive outpatient program (IOP) usually runs a few hours a day, a few days a week. PHP is the more intensive of the two, and many people step down from PHP to IOP as they stabilize.
At Great Plains, PHP is delivered within our residential setting, so you keep the structure and clinical support of the program as you step down from the full intensity of inpatient care.
Most major insurance plans cover partial hospitalization, and Great Plains can check your benefits for you. Federal parity law generally requires plans that include behavioral health to treat addiction care no less favorably than medical care.
Not always. PHP is a common step down after residential treatment, and it can also be a starting point for people who are medically stable. An evaluation determines the right entry point for your situation.
